Staff Nurse (N)

Job Description 1.Complete clinical competencies as outlined in the Nursing Competency Framework defined by each facility.

2.Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care that is evidence based.

3.Writes patient nursing care plans.

4.Implements plans through tasks such as preparing patients for operations, wound treatment and monitoring vital signs.

5.Sets up of infusions and blood transfusions.

6.Acts as patient advocate by making ethical decisions related to consent and confidentiality.

7.Communicates with and relieves the anxiety of patients and their relatives.

8.Responds appropriately to emergency situations.

9.Incorporate every customer's unique needs, expectations, lifestyle and cultural background.

10.Maintains and demonstrates clinical competence using evidence-based practice in all aspects of patient care including those with complex needs.

11.Undertakes additional tasks as assigned.

12.Identifies the activities of daily living and appropriately plans, implements and evaluates physical and psychological care.

13.Solves problems as they arise and exercise judgement in referring matters requiring further consideration and action to the Senior Nursing Personnel on duty.

14.Reports incident and complaints to Senior Nursing Personnel on duty.

15.Demonstrates up to date knowledge of care in normal pregnancy and midwifery competencies in all aspects of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, care of the new-born, high risk pregnancies and lifesaving skills.

16.Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates midwifery care that is evidence based, incorporates every woman's unique needs, expectations, lifestyle and cultural background.

17.Functions in the role of Team Leader in addition to providing direct patient care.

18.Ensures that care within the facility is performed in accordance with established corporate and hospital policies and procedures and international standards.

19.Ensures clinical resources and continuity of care during her hours of duties.

20.Works in collaboration both clinically and administratively with hospital leadership and other members of the health care team
