Healthcare Assistant

Carey Ward is a 27 bed Acute Medical ward proving care for patients with a wide range of acute and complex medical conditions. The postholder will be required to carry out a wide range of duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and with minimal supervision will ensure high quality care is delivered to the patients. Working as an integral part of the nursing team the postholder will demonstrate good teamworking skills, collaborating with all members of the multidisciplinary team meeting the care needs of the patients and the team's objectives. The postholder will demonstrate skills to new or less experienced members of staff and participate in training and educational activities.

Responsibility for Patient/Service User Care

1. To support patients/service users in undertaking activities of daily living within care plans.

2. To monitor and report changes in patient/service users' presentation to the staff member in charge and take appropriate action.

3. To follow all relevant policies and procedures.

4. To report issues of concern in line with policy and contribute to any Quality and Safety processes
