Neither label reflects how hard the job is — it reflects how the UK government has chosen to define labour market need, qualification requirements, and salary bands.

The UK doesn't ask "is this job hard?" It asks three things:

1.𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗤𝗙 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝟯 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲? This is a training/qualification tier, roughly equivalent to A-levels or above.

2.𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 set for the Skilled Worker visa (this changes periodically — always check the current figure before applying)?

3.𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀? A job can technically require skill and still fail this test if no licensed sponsor is offering it at the right salary. That's the trap many applicants fall into — they find a "skilled-sounding" job, but it doesn't clear the immigration bar.

This is the part most guides get wrong. Non-skilled doesn't mean "no visa possible." It means the general Skilled Worker route is closed, but narrower, purpose-built routes may still be open.

•𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 — some care roles were reclassified to allow sponsorship, though rules here shift often and deserve a direct check against current gov.uk guidance
